1st Skit at Bilingual FM

バイリンガルFMという大人のための英語塾を運営しています。このレッスンの特徴は、自分のいいたいことを先生に伝えて、それを先生の英語力でスキットと呼ばれるネイティブらしい会話文にしてくれることです。授業の最後に先生がそのスキットを録音してくれるので、それを次のレッスンまでになんども聞いて憶えてきます。

自分の会社のサービスを受けることで、生徒さんの結果につながるいい授業を作れると思い、このバイリンガルFMで100日間の生徒生活を始めることにしました。

下は、初回のレッスンのスキットとその訳です。You Tubeの動画は、一週間聞き続けて憶えてきたものを次の授業でテストしている様子です。

A: You started studying English again?
B: Yeh, I decided to officially become an English student again for a couple reasons. The first being, that I believe it is extremely important to never stop learning. Also, for my growth as an English speaker as well as for the growth of my business, I want to put myself in the position of a student.
A: This is great. I admire you for being so humble in your success.
B: To stay motivated to learn a language is difficult. After some time it could become monotonous. So at Bilingual FM our objective is to maintain students' motivation year after year.
A: What sorts of tools or processes do you implement into your system in order to do this?
B: Before a student begins their program we ask them to write their reasons for learning as well as their goals, on a piece of paper. Then, they see their goals in front of them and can be continuously reminded of it.
A: Interesting concept.
B: Then, we believe it is very important for them to track their progress and see themselves improve. If a student literally sees their improvement they will stay motivated.
A: Ok.
B: We also strive to create a team environment within the school, between the staff, the teachers and the students. This team feeling creates a support system that is encouraging for the students to continue. Making new friends while learning is motivating.
A: Great.
B: At Bilingual FM we have generated a comprehensive system which allows the student to feel at ease throughout the process, without worrying about the next step in learning.
長くて憶えるの大変でした。けど、このスキットを聞き続けていたから、今日のレッスンでは早速ここで憶えた表現が使えました。自分の英語をこうやって録画しておくと、発音のできてないところとかが客観的にみれて「いいね！」

英語の勉強また始めたんだって？
そう。いくつか理由があって、また「正式に」英語の生徒になることにしたよ。最初の理由としては、学習を止めないことがとっても大事だということ。それから、自分の英語の上達のためと会社の成長のために、生徒になることにしたんだよ。
それはいいね。目標に対して謙虚な態度は素晴らしいと思うよ。
言葉を学ぶなかでやる気を保つのは、難しいことだよね。少したつと、退屈になるし。だから、バイリンガルFMの目標は生徒さんのやる気を時間が経っても保ち続けることなんだ。
そうするために、どんなプロセスとかツールが学習システムの中に用意されているの。
生徒さんはプログラムを始める前に、英語を学ぶ理由とゴールを紙に書いてもらうんだ。そうしたら、生徒さん達は自分の目標を目の前に持ち、それが継続的に英語学習について思い出させてくれるんだよ。
面白いコンセプトだね。
それから、生徒さんが自分の進歩をたどっていけることと、その成長を見れることがとっても大切だと思う。もし、生徒さんが文字通り自分の成長を見ることができれば、やる気は保てるよね。
そうだね。
それから、教室の中にスタッフ、教師、生徒さんとのチームの絆を感じられるようにしているんだ。このチームの絆が生徒さんが続けることを励ましてくれるような、サポートシステムを作り上げていると思う。学習のなかで新しい友達を作ることができたらやる気がでるよね。
そうだね。
バイリンガルFMでは、生徒さんが学習の過程のなかでずっと安心して学習ができて、次に何をしたらいいのか迷ったりしないような、全部任せられるような仕組みをつくっているんだよ。
